Practicing Change in Real Time

Earlier this month, I joined 2,200 people from 80 countries for a weeklong retreat in Cancun.

Joe Dispenza, known for his teachings about the mind’s extraordinary potential to influence the body, teases on his website: “This could be the most transformative week of your life.” Well, no joke. It absolutely was. It was so beyond what I could have hoped for that words cannot capture what I experienced - but I’ll try.

Many of us came seeking healing ~ physical, emotional, spiritual.
We came seeking love ~ for life, for others, for ourselves.
And we came seeking abundance ~ not just money, but freedom, energy, joy, opportunity.

Imagine first learning about mind-bending topics like quantum physics, neuroscience, and epigenetics in such a way that it not only makes sense, it gives you chills. You begin to realize how much we really don’t know, or perhaps how much we’ve forgotten while living in this modern age. It makes you want to wake up early and keep learning.

Then imagine applying this deeper understanding through the ancient practice of meditation. That’s where the fun starts. Dr. Joe has taken meditation to another level by combining the wisdom of the ancients with the modern edge of science. Add music and his masterful vocal guidance, and you get a few thousand people deeply focused, breathing in rhythm, fully present. That’s a lot of energy in one room - energy available for personal transformation.

To embody the awareness we cultivated, we practiced walking meditations collectively on the beach at sunrise and sunset. Headphones on, waves rolling in, the sky turning gold - we were practicing change in real time, with open eyes, open minds, and open hearts.

And finally, we danced. Although not formally called meditation, I found dancing to be one of the most effective ways to slip into euphoria. Over 600 of us were from Latin America, so the DJ mixed in Latin rhythms that were irresistible, even for those who felt too self-conscious to move. We danced with abandon, and I had the time of my life.

If this calls to you, you can explore more about Dr. Joe’s work online. All I can say is that I feel immense appreciation for him and for the experience. We each returned home with a greater belief in ourselves, our purpose, and in the emergence of a more conscious world.

What I experienced in Cancun didn’t stay there. It’s already reshaping how I see, and how I want to create, and the ripple effects will be extraordinary. More on that soon!
